Caffe Marcellino sits quietly on Fore Street in Sidmouth, offering the kind of warm, inviting atmosphere that makes it an easy choice for a coffee break or a casual catch-up. This cafe is clearly a spot where locals and visitors alike come for more than just a caffeine fix—the care put into both the space and the food invites you to linger.

The interior is notably clean and well-kept, reflecting the owners' attentiveness. It feels cozy without being cramped, making it suitable for families stopping by with children or dogs, who are welcome here. Although there isn’t a dedicated baby changing facility, the staff's willingness to adapt shows their genuine hospitality and community-minded approach.

Caffe Marcellino specializes in authentic Italian coffee, which stands out as a reliable pick-me-up after a stroll along the seafront or while exploring Sidmouth’s town center. Alongside the coffee, the food offerings lean into traditional Italian homemade recipes, including pastries and more substantial fare such as lasagne and pasta, which some regulars suggest are made from family recipes handed down through generations. This culinary authenticity is matched by the friendly, unpretentious service, making visitors feel like welcomed guests rather than just customers.

The vibe here suits a relaxed morning or afternoon visit, especially when you want a break from sightseeing or errands. It’s a place to enjoy an espresso alongside a delicate Sfogliatelle or a hearty slice of lasagne if you need something more substantial. The owners’ visible pride in quality and care for their guests shows through everything—from the cleanliness to the food presentation to their readiness for friendly conversation.

Whether you’re passing through with your family and pets, looking for a quiet spot to unwind with tea, or craving authentic Italian flavors away from the tourist crowds, Caffe Marcellino fits those moments comfortably. Its combination of genuine hospitality, tidy surroundings, and simple yet satisfying Italian offerings gives it a grounded, lived-in feel that reflects its Sidmouth setting well.

Lovely clean environment, clearly looked after by the owners. I think it's possibly the cleanest café I've ever been in! It gets better though. The food is homemade and is authentic Italian with pasta to die for and the most delicious pastries. The coffee is authentic Italian as well and was delicious according to my OH. The owners definitely care about providing quality food and service. You can even choose your bread and filling for paninis and sandwiches. Highly recommended. This is the type of café we want everywhere.

When in Sidmouth we always make a beeline for here. I absolutely adore the lasagne. You can tell that it's made to an authentic family recipe. I've been to Italy many times but never found one as nice. Lovely friendly polite owners. Any chance of the recipe Ciao

We passed through Sidmouth with our baby and dog and had coffee and brioche here. Had a lovely chat with the owner, what lovely people. Such an immaculate cafe with great coffee and dogs are welcome. No baby change but they were so nice and put a table up in the toilet for us to be able to change the baby’s nappy. We bought some of the best Sfogliatelle we’ve ever had for the car journey home.

We popped by here briefly late one Friday afternoon for a quick cup of tea and a comfort break. The owners were very friendly and welcoming and, just as soon as we were settled, took our modest order of a pot of tea for three. The various Italian cakes and filled bread rolls looked very inviting but we simply weren't hungry then. The place wasn't very full and we could enjoy our drink to the tune of some invigorating classical Italian music. The toilet at the back of this establishment was big and clean. All very nice but, as I don't live in England, I do have to ask myself when a pot of tea for 3 began to cost more than a tenner?

Very nice coffee, genuinely Italian, great cakes and snacks. Moderate prices but worth it for the quality. Staff are always very friendly.

Expect warm hospitality, great service, and a fantastic array of authentic home-made Italian pastries, as well as a smattering of delicious lunch options. The coffee is excellent, too. Thoroughly recommend.
